Swimming Lessons

So, for weeks we've been talking up swimming lessons which started yesterday...or as Pierce calls it, "swim school". Last summer he was timid in the water and stuck to us like a leach.  He's been so excited he even got on the carpet the other night imitating to his dad how he was going to swim. He gave me a big thumbs up on our way in and wouldn't even stop talking!
He was checking out the pool while we waited on the instructors and couldn't wait to go in,  there were TONS of kids too.  Several group classes go on at the same time.  Parents were welcome to stay poolside, but I decided he would do best if I was nowhere in sight.  So, I watched from the window instead.  I only saw him scream once, so I considered it a success!

He was even happy at the end of class, so at least I don't have to drag him in next time. He said, "Mommy, I'm a good swimmer!" I hope that's the case by the end of the class!

Easter Day

We had a busy, but fun Easter this year. It started out trying to rush out of the house for church, but not without attempting a few pictures. This never goes well. This little boy does not like to be still for the camera!
This is how he feels about Easter pictures!

Adding a fresh flower to the cross at church.

The only attempt of a family picture, Pierce kept turning around and looking behind us.  Such a cooperative little boy!

The Coulson's came over after church and ate lunch with us.  After our yummy meal we headed outside for one last egg hunt.  I belive this was #5 and the final one for the last week.  They were really excited but Maury and Carter kept opening their eggs and would throw them back down if there weren't treats in them.  Pierce didn't care, it just helped him get more eggs in his basket!

We missed our families on Easter but are thankful for sweet friends to spend these special times with!

Hippity Hoppity...the Easter Bunny is on his way!

We put out special treats for the Easter Bunny last night and had an exciting morning seeing what he left! Pierce made sure that we did not eat this "carrot" that they made at school and saved it to put out.

The Easter Bunny left Pierce some much needed PJ's along with a few other goodies.  Can you tell that super heros are a favorite around here?

Birthday Fun & Outdoor Dining

We have had a fun Easter weekend, Saturday started off with a birthday party for sweet Olivia. Pierce and friends helped her celebrate her 4th birthday, complete with another egg hunt, Easter Bunny visit, crafts, a jump house, and yummy cake!

We also grilled out for dinner last night and ate on the deck!
Ever wonder why we are rarely in pictures with Pierce and why I can't get any decent pictures? Well, here is why. 1. He is in a terrible picture taking phase.  2.  It is impossible to get him to look at the camera.  3.  If he does, it looks like this.  4.  Most often, he won't even stand still.  Any tips???

Water Fun!

We have loved the much warmer weather and took advantage of it on Friday by celebrating Good Friday outside!  Our day started off playing with friends at the park and having a picnic lunch. After a nap, Pierce was really excited to put on a swimsuit and play in the water!  Granted it was a lot of old baby water toys, but he didn't care one bit!

"I wike da Easter Bunny...he's nice!"

This is what Pierce said after we saw him with friends this week. Of course, I talked him up a lot before our visit! He was the first of his friends, he walked right up to him and sat down. With each set of friends after us, it gradually went downhill and totally fell apart with the Patterson's...particularly Grace. I'm lucky I've only got one in situations like this!

We had a very eventful day, after naps we went over to Kate's house for another egg hunt!  Yes, that is #3 so far this week.  There were lots of kids and lots of eggs!!

Eggs!

Pierce was excited for quite a while for us to dye our eggs this year.  Especially, since I got us a Toy Story kit!  And, it was even more exciting when we opened the kit and realized it was 3D, complete with glasses!  He was a big helper putting in the tablets, watching the colors change, and decorating our eggs with Toy Story.  He just doesn't understand why he can't keep them in his room and play with them like the plastic ones!

His 2K classes also had their egg hunt at school on Wednesday. He was VERY excited about taking a basket to school along with some stuffed eggs to hunt. Pierce couldn't wait to get home and check out the loot in his eggs!

Let the Egg Hunts Begin!

Sunday kicked off our first of many egg hunts and Easter activities this week! We had an egg hunt at our church and Pierce did it all including face painting, train rides, an Easter tattoo, snacks, balloon toys,  and of course hunting eggs. No coaching was needed this year and he was really fast! His basket was full in about 2 minutes!

Friends Kate and Jack, I love how girls stop and pose for the camera and boys do not.

Checking out his loot after the hunt.  I think he had at least 2 dozen eggs!

Happy Eastser!!!

Mr. Independent!

Pierce got a new book in the mail this week from his book club, "Otis". We only read it to him twice, but he must have memorized it already. He said he wanted to read to himself before bed the other night, and he got most of the story right!
I had also done some of his laundry and had it stacked up in the living room. I was busy with something else and asked him to take the stacks up to his room and put it in his chair. He said"I did it, Mom!". When I went to check he had completely put away everything in the correct drawers and even got the stack of hangup clothes and crammed them away in a drawer too! Now, I need to teach him to fold the laundry. :)
M and I laugh all the time with the things that Pierce says. His conversations are so funny and sweet (most of the time). He often will tell each of us that we are his best friend. I always say, "goodnight sweet boy" at bedtime, he often says "goodnight sweet grel (girl)" back to me.  Some days he tells me he is going to fly airplanes, then he says he is going to ride the garbage truck.

Me:  Pierce, you need to clean that up.
P:  I can't, I have to go to work.
Me:  You do?  Where to do you work?
P:  At the post office.
Me:  What do you do at the post office?
P:  Post office work.  Where my car?  I gonna be wate (late).

Hmmm, I wonder where he has heard that?!?!?!

On your mark, Get set, GO!!!

Today was the annual High Country 5K at our church. M and I volunteered again, Pierce had fun with me cheering on the runners along the path. He also got to see firetrucks and policemen which he thought was pretty exciting!

After the 5K, Pierce and his friends participated in the kids mile fun run. Pierce kept saying he was going to be the winner. And, they're off...
I love Carter's game face here!  I don't think Pierce was very serious about the run, just about having a good time!

This outtake picture make me laugh!  Pierce looks totally exhausted and like that was the hardest thing he has ever done.  Ha!  I think he was just scratching his face though...

My Best Bud's Birthday!

I'm pretty sure that Pierce was just as excited about Carter's birthday party as he was for his own. We helped Carter celebrate his 3rd birthday last weekend. I know most people would say that you can't have best friends that young, but those two really love each other. They are even in the same class at school. Recently, they have started fighting like brothers a little bit but they really are sweet friends!

The kids had lots of fun eating cake, playing in the monster truck bounce house, sliding, swinging, and running around!
