Special Treat

Last week we made a special birthday treat for Pierce's class since things are so crazy on his actual birthday, Halloween! Can you tell he was excited about the chocolate chip pumpkin cookies?

Ready to head to school and, share his cookies with his friends!  They even had a pumpkin hunt at school in the dark that day.  Let the birthday, Halloween craziness begin!!

Storytime!

We headed to the library yesterday and met friends for Storytime! It's been quite a while since we went (due to uncooperative behavior mainly), however, it was quite a hit this time! Pierce jumped up on the front row with kids he didn't know, listened to several stories, sang songs, and followed all directions. We even found a few books to bring home and a movie. He's already asking to go back next week!

Backyard Fun

We finally got a playset for the backyard (really Pierce's birthday present and part of Christmas!). It was sweet to watch both of his grandfathers and his dad work together to help put it together. A big thank you to both of them for coming and helping, especially Poppa who spent 2 days at our house!

While Pierce got something to play on outside, Poppa played on the tractor while he was here and pulled up an old stump we've been needing to get rid of. Can you tell he loves this sort of stuff?!?!

Pierce can't wait to have friends over to play on his new playset soon!!

My Vacation

We spent last weekend visiting family. On Friday night, we stopped on our way down in Luverne to have a family dinner to celebrate Max and Granddaddy's birthdays! Pierce loves spending time with his cousins and LOVED Max showing him the Star Wars toys. These are old ones that his dad and Uncle Mike played with then they were small!

We then headed down to the farm to visit Poppa and Gigi for the rest of the weekend.  It was a warm October weekend, perfect for being outside.  Gigi always has "jobs" for them to do and Pierce loves helping her...too bad it won't seem fun when he gets older.

It was an exciting weekend to find "new" toys at each place.  Pierce discovered lots of fun stuff that cousin Chapman left at his last visit, like his light saber and batman car.  He even made "pies" for everyone out of the rocks!

We also went to church with Gigi and Poppa. Pierce knew none of the kids but went right up and sat in front of the church with the other kids, then headed off to their children's program during the service. He loved it!! We heard all about the puppet show, songs, and friends he made.

Apparently, we need to get out a little more...we were almost home and he said, "Mommy, I had fun on my vacation!"

Pumpkin Carving???

Since we have several pumpkins from our trip to the pumpkin patch, Pierce decided to opt for oufitting his in Iron Man gear rather than carving his!

Can you tell that he loves superheroes these days?!?! Batman shirt, Iron Man pumpkin, and Superman costume for Halloween!

Old Baker Farm

On Saturday we went out to Old Baker Farm. Pierce's friend, James, and his mommy joined us too. The boys had tons of fun with all the activities. They jumped in the cotton, climbed the hay bales, rode the horse swings, saw the farm animals, and ran through the maze!

The highlight for them was definitely the hay ride and going out to the pumpkin patch to pick their favorite pumpkin to take home.  It was also western day and there were lots of cowboys walking around!

During the hay ride, we were sitting close to the back and Pierce yelled out at the tractor driver, "hey, I think your tractor is cool!".  Haha!!

McWane and Park #4

Earlier in the week, we met friends at McWane to play then hit Railroad Park for more fun and a picnic. Apparently, it had been too long since our last visit to McWane, Pierce couldn't even remember what it was. Even though some exhibits were down, we enjoyed the small crowds. The bubble exhibit, shark tank, and digging for bones were a few highlights!

The classroom exhibit with building blocks and a chalkboard provided lots of entertainment...who knew?!?!  Us mamas were happy to sit down for a few minutes!

The fish tanks are always a hit, the kids were funny interacting with one of the employees as he told them all about one of the fish hiding in the tank.  He would ask them a question and they would yell out the answer.

One special part of this trip downtown was trying out Railroad Park, while it is not new it was new to us!  I can't believe we had not been there yet.  It was a perfect day to let the kids play and have a picnic.  They all loved this spiderweb contraption...I have no idea what it is called, wish I had taken a picture further back where you could see how huge it was.  Maury climbed up to the top!

Pierce now names all of the parks that we go to not by name, but by number.  So, Railroad Park has become #4!  We will have to take daddy with us soon to visit #4 again!!  If only I could keep track of parks and their coinciding numbers....

A Movie Date

 Yesterday, I had a movie date with my favorite little boy to see The Lion King in 3D.  It was fun to put on the glasses and watch the movie.  When it started, Pierce said "Grandmomma and Granddaddy have this movie".  I think the only time he has seen it was at their house.  We may have to ask Santa for a copy to watch at home!

My Little Picassa

Today we went to the annual Bluff Park Art Show and it could not have been a more perfect day weather wise! There are tons of exhibit booths, food, music, and entertainment for the kids. We spent a lot of time in the kids art area, but the biggest highlight for Pierce was probably riding the big yellow school bus from parking to the show!

The kids area had lots of arts and crafts...Pierce got his face painted, painted a picture, made play dough art, fingerprint art, mixed media plate art, and a necklace. However, we came home with a smaller necklace after he ate the fruit loops off!

These next few picture are repetitive but I love how intent he is working, how happy he is, then putting the final touches on his artwork!

Of course, we couldn't leave without playing on the playground too.  We can't wait to go again next year!!
