"Dad, you are awesome!"

Daddy is a pretty special guy...and a super fun dad in Pierce's eyes!  He didn't get a super exciting day for Father's Day but he did get time with his special little guy. I love that Pierce would hug him and say, "Dad, you are awesome!".

A Jungle of a Week

In June, Pierce and I made a trip to Birmingham for the week to attend VBS at SCBC! The theme was "Jungle Safari" this year.  We loved getting to see all of our friends (including me) and our week long spend the night party at the Coulsons!

Family Fun Night was a big hit again this year with lots of fun games, inflatables, yummy food (especially Steel City Pops), face painting, etc...  My favorite part is always listening to the kids perform and those sweet little voices!  Brooke did a great job planning for this evening!

I know I'll get in trouble for this one, but it cracked me up!

We also got to visit with lots of other friends during the week that don't go to church with us.  We went to Mary Claire's house one day!  Can you tell it was "red day" that day?!?!  The highlight of everything that week was probably lunch with Mrs. Miles!!  What a fun visit we had.  You can't tell they love each other, huh?!  He literally sat on top of her and just smiled and hugged on her the entire time.

Such a fun week of swimming and playtime with friends.  I'm always amazed at how much kids learn and take in, especially during VBS.  Such a wonderful time to watch God shine and grow in their hearts!

Another New School

We finally got Pierce registered for his new school in June.  He doesn't look too sad about it, huh?!  I do think he's a little nervous, but hopefully, not as nervous as he was about starting big school last year.  He truly loves school and learning so I'm sure he will love it.  I love that he was trying to compare everything there to his old school!  He's already asked to ride the bus!

Baseball Camp

Quickly after school got out, we got to kick off summer with baseball camp for the 2nd year. We love camp with Coach Brian!! As an added perk this year, we got to go to Hoover and see friends for the week.  :)

Sliding day on the last day is the most exciting!  Pierce also loved getting to spend time with Jonah as another coach, who just happens to be coming to Auburn this fall!



Amelia took this one of the kids and it is, by far, my favorite one this year!

 

We are hoping we can continue to make Coach Brian's camp an annual event even though we are out of town now!

Settling In

Pierce and I have quickly realized that summers in Auburn are quite different than Birmingham. We don't have fun things like McWane, the zoo, unlimited jumpy places, lots of parks, etc...however, we are trying to keep ourselves busy!

The one thing we miss the most is the Hoover Library!  It's a fantastic one, especially for kids.  We forgot how lucky we were to have it.  Especially, the fun programs during the summer.  We did register for summer reading here (there are much less books to choose from!).  They have the same program that Hoover is doing, Fizz, Boom, Read!, so Pierce was excited about that.  He's also holding out that due to the smaller group here that he may actually win the big prize!

Regular playdates with the boys next door has really helped too.  I laugh with Pierce and tell him that he stalks the neighbors!

We are also enjoying lots of pool time!

Memorial Day

After we moved into our new house, we had some friends staying with us that are also moving to town. So, on Memorial Day we decided to have a last minute cookout with them and some other family in town. No, we weren't unpacked...and no, we didn't have a lot of furniture. We did, have two tables, a working kitchen and grill, and some toys and furniture upstairs!

Pierce decided to make this sign for the door.... "Memorial Day Party, Starts at 12:00 AM".  It wasn't completely accurate but cute anyway.  We were so glad that Aunt Mallory and Uncle Foster stopped by to visit on their way home from the lake!

Last Day of Kindergarten

I would not have been sad at all about starting "big school" this year had I known what a wonderful year it would be!  I was so, so, so sad to see it end!!!  Not only because of the great year, but I knew it meant saying good bye to an amazing teacher.  Mrs. Miles truly loves her students and has a gift to teach.  I knew my child was loved on while he was there and she would send texts of fun pictures during their day.  Pierce would be sad that he couldn't go on the weekends, and I never once had to drag him out of bed to go.  We were both dreading the good byes and barely made it!

First and last day!  He doesn't look like he grew much but he did, I think he looks much older too!

His sweet teacher made memory books with photos for every single student.  I couldn't hold back the tears with this note!

His teacher texted me this on the last day before carpool.  She said he was crying.  :( He cried all the way to the car, while I was trying to be a big girl and be strong for him, when he said "Mama, I don't want to leave", I lost it too!  I think I cried half way to Auburn that day...or more.

 

So thankful for our time at SSC and the wonderful friendships we made in our short time there!!  Our new school has A LOT to live up to...the bar has been set high!  We are excited that football season is right around the corner, a lot of his friends are Auburn families and will be in town.  We can't wait!!
