LEGOLAND!!!

As my birthday boy got closer to his birthday, we gave him the option of doing something super special with his best buddy or having a party...so, we took a road trip to the ATL!!!

We took a quick 24 hour trip and they had lots of firsts together...spending the night together, showering (yikes!), eating at some new places, and of cource, LEGOLAND!!!

They loved their new tacky, matching lego pj's!

Letting these two shower together was probably a mistake.  It was difficult and hilarious all at the same time.  They made a terrible mess no matter how many times I told them to be careful.  Thankfully, we were in a hotel and I didn't have to completely clean it up!  This photo cracks me up because it shows their true personalities...Carter is acting like a nut and showing off while Pierce is in the background whining because he's getting water in his eyes!
Thumbs up for Legoland and ready to bust it wide open!

Both boys were excited that their favorite college student, Phillip, goes to school in ATL and was able to make a surprise visit to see us!

On our way out of town, we hit The Varsity for a late lunch and celebrate with some cake!

Such a fun time celebrating turning 6 and this sweet little friendship...and to Carter's mom and dad for letting us take him to another state!  Pierce kept asking when he was going to have his party though.  Thankfully, having a Halloween birthday means seeing lots of friends that day too.  These boys are getting too big, too fast!!!

Our Art Gallery

For the last few months Pierce has really been into art. I think between the BP art show, having art class at school, and doing daily art in his classroom it has sparked an interest!
One day, he founded lots of his paintings and decided to make an art show gallery upstairs.  There were two other doors not pictured filled with his creations too.  I think there were close to 10 paintings!  He kept asking me how much I thought he would make from them.  Love my little painter!

Spirit Night

Pierce's school recently had Spirit Night at the mall for a fundraiser.  Lucky us, we all got to eat Chick Fil A for dinner (lucky, yes, because I didn't have to cook or mess up my kitchen...my favorite meal, no).  It was fun to see Pierce see lots of kids from school that we didn't know.  Sweet Emma from his class came over to say hi!  Of course, no trip to the mall would be complete without a ride on the carousel too!!

Annual Pumpkin Patch Trip

About two weeks ago, Pierce and I hit the pumpkin patch for our annual trip. We both love going! This year, we went to the closest one and our favorite little one at Shadow Lake. It's perfect for younger ones with lots of activities, but not too big and overwhelming. It's sponsored by a local church and the people are super sweet!

We had plans to meet a group from church but it rained bad so we decided to go later in the afternoon (hence the rainboots). It ended up being perfect weather and a fun outing!

They always have lots of fun things to do...face painting, inflatables, train ride, hayride and a maze, lots of games, crafts, and plenty of snacks.  Lucky for us, the Baker's met us there so we had some friends to play with!

Literacy Fair

We attended the Literacy Fair at school a few weeks ago, each grade level hosted a special event.  Pierce was excited to find his sweet teacher in the K room to make a bookmark.  Each teacher was also wearing a character costume from one of their favorite books.

Clifford was also there for a phto op with all the kids!

Pierce loves reading right now, I hope his love for it continues!
Pierce loves "Pete the Cat" books.  He got Pete painted on his face and we had to read one of his Pete books that night before bed.  Here he is pointing to "his button".

Open Wide!

It was check up time again at the dentist.  This is really not Pierce's favorite thing to do, but each visit has proven to be a little bit better.  He did great for x rays and Dr. Johnson snuck the flouride on his teeth super quick before he realized it!

The most exciting part of this visit was the new office and the fun toys.  In addition to the movie room (which we never went in), there is a new game room for the bigger kids.  Pierce loved wii and ipad time after his visit!  He keeps asking when we can go back.  If that is what excites him for the dentist then I'm all for it!!!

Bed Buddy

Pierce misses his daddy anytime he has to go out of town.  It doesn't happen very often, but he was gone for a conference a few weeks ago.  His favorite thing to do while he is gone is to sleep with mommy.  So, I had a sweet little bed buddy to snuggle up with for a few nights.  I love that you can still see his eye black from his game earlier in the day!

"Go Pierce!!!"

Gigi and Poppa were in town a few weeks ago and were able to come to a game.  Pierce had no idea that they were coming and got so excited when he saw them!  He would turn around and look at them both to make sure they saw him, especially while at bat.  I think they had fun watching them too, some of the kids are pretty entertaining!  Pierce loved all of the extra cheering for him!!!
Daddy was out of town for a conference so I had to stay close some while he was catching in the outfield (sometimes he doesn't pay attention).  He told me that girls were not allowed on the field!
Pierce is learning so much about baseball, thanks to Coach Andy!  He has been a great coach for our first season!

Donut Joe's

We have a new, local donut spot...Donut Joe's!  It's probably too close to us and will tempt us more than we need.  We tried it out for the first time a few weeks ago and left with lots of yummy goodness and a balloon!  We will definitely be back soon!

Hudson's Superhero Party

Our buddy, Hudson, had a Superhero party at the park several weeks ago to celebrate turning 4!  Pierce still loves superhero stuff and was excited to dress up.  It was a beautiful day after school for the party but a little hot so he opted for this attire rather than the full superman, insulate suit we had!

We had a fun afternoon playing superhero games, eating lots of goodies, playing with special friends, and helping the birthday boy celebrate!  Too bad I didn't get a picture of him.  Thanks for letting us help you celebrate, Hudson!

Another Lunch Date

So far, I've only been able to make it to school to eat lunch with Pierce about once a month due to my work schedule.  This time he picked Paige to eat with us at the visitors table!  He gets picked a lot to eat with other friends when they have visitors too.  I can't wait until our next lunch date!

Fire Prevention

As part of fire prevention and awareness the Hoover Fire Dept made a stop at school.  Pierce came home with these goodies, got to get on the smoke truck, and learned a lot about fires.  He came home asking about our smoke alarm and showing us what to do if we had a fire in our house.  A valuable lesson but one I hope we never have to put into action!

Bluff Part Art Show

Early October means it's time for the annual BP Art Show! Pierce and I love going and this year was special since it was the 50th annual art show. A morning filled with painting, music, yummy treats, awesome art, riding the bus, and seeing lots of familiar faces.  It's always fun for both of us and we look forward to it every year!
He loves that I can drop him off in the kid area for lots of fun activities and painting.  I love that I can drop him off for an hour and walk around by myself to look at all of the exhibits!
For several days after the show, my little artist really got into painting and said he was getting ready for next year.  He wants to set up his own booth and is hoping he will make lots of money off of his artwork!
