Pierce was surprised that he got TWO MORE stripes on his belt a few weeks ago! He quickly learned and recited their "life lesson". Mrs. Williams said that most of her younger ones take a while to learn it but that he learned it quickly!

House Decor
As I was getting out our Halloween decor for the house, Pierce must have decided that we needed a little more. I found this sign attached to our bedroom door!
Game Ball!!!
My little ball player was soooo excited to receive the game ball early in the season! He was playing first base and got the first out of the game!!! Coach Andy said that was a big deal for a first time player. We are so proud of him!
Yard Sale
For some reason my child has been begging for us to have a yard sale. We had a neighborhood yard sale in September and since we have a lot of junk to get out of our house we decided to participate. Pierce told me he was the "crash register" man! He was also my entertainment, as you can see, since we are not at the best location in our neighborhood and had some down time. He quickly tried to pocket any money we got from his stuff!
Glasses
Pierce was so excited that he needed glasses, we picked out some frames and he got fitted for them. It's taken me a while to get used to his new look but I think the excitement and newness is starting to wear off!
First Stripe!
Piere was pretty pumped to receive his first stripe on his belt about two weeks into starting classes!! This first one was for learning how to tie his belt independently. Now, he can't wait to start testing to earn more!

Book Buddies
Pierce has lots of favorite things about Kindergarten, but one of the highlights of his week is Book Buddies! Each Kindergarten class gets paired up with a 4th grade class. The 4th graders then come to the K class to interview the kids and see what kinds of things they do and like. Then, the 4th graders select their book buddy for the year based on this. Pierce is lucky because he gets not one but TWO book buddies! On Fridays, these fun guys come visit him and they read books together. They've become big brothers now and he loves seeing them around school! (I even realized that I take a class at the gym with one of their moms. Small world!)

Mr. Squinty
During the summer, we noticed that Pierce started squinting with one of his eyes when he was eating, reading, and sometimes doing things up close. He stopped doing it right before school started, but then started again not long after he was in school. I took him in for an eye exam and he is having some vision problems. My biggest concern was that when he is looking down and looks up quickly that he crosses his eyes, but only for a split second then he self corrects them. It was amazing to watch him read the letters during the exam and then his expression when the doctor put the lenses on and hear him say "WOW" knowing he could read them much better.
Dr. Ray is super sweet and great with kids! He loved his playtime in their special playroom while his eyes were dialating and wearing his special sunglasses to school!! Next up...glasses (which he is very excited about!).
A New Gameday Experience
Our next home game we made this year was a special treat! We were offered some nice scholarship seats, along with all of the accommodations that those entail. Since we had three seats, we decided to let Andrew sit with us and Pierce stayed at the tailgate with Ms. Shay (which he loved!). I'm pretty sure that Andrew won't forget that game, especially with all of the yummy treats and food he got!
Too bad we don't get to sit there at every game...we would be spoiled!!

Open House
Pierce's school hosted Open House last month. It was a fun night to see other classmates with their families and learn all about what our children do each day at school. Our student took us on a tour of various things around the classroom, we visited their class garden outside, along with each special such as the library, art, music rooms, etc...

Put Me in Coach...
Pierce started his first season of tee ball this fall. We wanted to put him in last spring but we heard that fall ball was less competitive so here we are! As you can see, he was really excited for his first game!
We were also shocked to find out that "tee ball" for the 6 year old group actually means that you attempt to hit it off of the machine first! Pierce is the only first time player on his team too. Surprisingly, a lot of the kids on his team do not even need the tee at all to hit!

Hi-Yah!!!
I am not exaggerating when I say that my child has been asking for at least a year and a half to go to Tiger Rock to take taekwondo classes. We kept telling him maybe soon and putting it off. Then, he discovered that they have an after school program at his school and talked his daddy into it! He's very excited about his classes and looks forward to class each week!

Lunch Dates
We were pretty much banned to go into the school the first two weeks of school so that the Kindergarteners could adjust. On week 3 I went in for a lunch date (maybe I should say brunch since they eat at 10:25!).
Pierce counted down the days for me to come. Showed me everything about getting my lunch, picked his buddy, Blake, to eat with us, and loved sitting at the special visitors table! He would barely stop for me to snap this picture!
Since this, he has been picked several times as the special friend when other parents have visited. I'm hoping to go back again later this week!
On the Lookout
Here is the lookout crew each morning as we wait for the bus. I thought it was cute when I found this!
A Labor Day Bust
Our Labor Day plans to go to the pool was shut down by Mother Nature! It turned out to be a chilly, cloudy day so we hit the movies instead to see Planes. It's always an adventure with these kiddos!

A Day on the Plains
We were excited on Labor Day weekend to pack up and head to Auburn for the day for the season opener!
Pierce loves football season because that means lots of cousin time! He loves football with the big boys and especially playing with Cousin Abby.

Apparently, Kindergarten has worn this boy out. He fell asleep INSIDE the stadium. He's never done that before!
First Homework Project
The first few weeks of school, Pierce had his first homework project to complete. His "I am" poster!
He had fun coming up with his "I am" areas and putting it together. They will be cut up to make a book and will get to take turns with each classmate bringing each one home. He can read it to us and we can learn all about his new friends that we hear so much about!

Stomach Bug
I thought big school had worn Pierce down by mid-week if the second week when I found him snoozing on the couch...an extremely rare thing!
I later realized he was sick with stomach bug and had a mess to clean up in the living room. Luckily, it didn't last but 24 hours!
Buddy Time at the Gym
These Dayschool buddies get excited when their mamas are at the gym at the same time. They are at different schools now and love to see each other. And, they don't complain about being there because time flies!
Big Week
After a big week at school, we celebrated with donuts and a little extra sleep time. My early riser woke up super early all week. I heard lots of people talking about dragging their kids out of bed...not around here!
Kindergarten Rocks!
Pierce was super excited to wear his "Kindergarten Rocks" shirt on Friday after his first week! This expression is truly how he feels about school. He really does think it rocks!!!
First Day of Kindergarten
Since Pierce has been in school for at least 6 weeks or more now, I guess I should post about it! The dreaded first day of Kindergarten approached and this mama couldn't believe it was already here!! The little boy was so excited it made me being sad about it diminish a little.
I was a little worried about him riding the bus home the first day but he jumped off LOVING it! I asked him what his favorite thing was about school that day and he said, "THE BUS!!!".
Pierce was much more nervous about his first day than I had anticipated he would be. He was so worried that someone would be mean to him. I gave him this little heart to put in his pocket and told him that he couldn't take it out, but if he started thinking about mommy and daddy just to reach in his pocket and grab it. It would remind him how much we love him and how proud we are of him. I asked him after school if he needed it and he said, "only two times". I asked him if he wanted to take it the next day, he said "I don't need it, but you keep it mom. If you start missing me don't forget I love you!"
Since we are well into Kindergarten now, I'm happy to report that he still loves school, adores his teacher, and has made lots of new friends. He even wishes he could go on Saturday to see all of them!
Getting Ready
The day before his big day, we had everything ready including two fun books for bed that night and his new Kindergarten Rocks shirt for the week! He was not excited at all....can't you tell?!?!
