Weekend Getaway

These mommas were excited for a quick girls weekend getaway to the beach over the weekend. We are thankful for all the sweet dads that held down the forts at home so we could go play. It was a quick trip, but we had lots of good food, laughs, and relaxation!

My boys took a weekend getaway too and went to visit Grandmomma and Granddaddy in Luverne! They even squeezed in a trip to the lake on Aunt Mallory and Uncle Foster's new boat! Pierce's highlight was riding the "motorcycle" (jet ski) on the water!

I hope I can make a trip to the lake with them soon too!

Church Picnic

Yesterday we attended our churchwide picnic to celebrate our church's anniversary. It was not really picnic type weather, but the kids didn't seem to mind the cooler temperature! M and Jim cooked lots of hamburgers and hotdogs while the kids did lots of sliding, swinging, climbing, and running!

It was funny to see Pierce playing with a lot of the bigger kids. I'm not sure who this little girl was, but she decided she needed to take care of him on the playground!

Happy Birthday, Ford!

Pierce got to help his friend, Ford, celebrate his 3rd birthday yesterday. The kids did lots of jumping, sliding, and cake eating!

Happy Birthday, Ford! Pierce loved "helping" Ford open his gifts and keeps asking when we can go play with them. I keep telling him we have to be invited, but I don't think he gets it.

His favorite part of parties is always singing and then clapping like he was the only one singing!

Last Lesson

Last week, Pierce finished up his last swimming lesson. Overall, he liked it and he really liked his teacher, Mr. Jacques! There were some tears and screaming, but he finished so I guess I should consider it a success!

Pierce was in the lowest skilled group, their main objective was to get more comfortable in the water and learn some basic swimming techniques. Hopefully, he won't be stuck to me like a leach this summer!

His favorite part of class was free play at the end of class. It was in the shallow end where he could stand up and he would always say, "did you see me, I was a good swimmer!"

Spring Sing

Last night was the make-up preschool production at church for choir and missions. I was a little worried since, due to the weather, the kids had not practiced together in several weeks. Most of the kids did not sing a whole lot, but none of them were screaming for their parents, so I consider it a success!

Pierce did scream, "Hey, Mommy!" really loud while on stage and said, "Sing Carter!" multiple times!

Here are a few from my 3K choir class that I helped with this year. They were a lot of fun to be with, can't believe Pierce and his friends will be in this class next year!

I'm so lucky to have this sweet boy in my life and to have been chosen to be his mom. It's been a fun week because this is what Pierce has told me every morning! I think they've been talking up Mother's Day at school.

Yesterday he said, "Mommy, me and daddy have a present for you. It's in daddy's truck...but it's a secret". Surprisingly, he didn't tell me what it was!  When we took this picture he said, "Yay for Mommy!"

I had a great day with my boys and we can't wait to celebrate with our moms soon!

Unforgetable

Last Wednesday will be a day that will be unforgetable in Alabama due to the terrible storms so many people experienced throughout the state. We were very lucky not only to be spared from the damage to our home, but to not lose any close family or friends.

On Saturday and Sunday, we had the opportunity to go to some of the most devastated areas and serve meals to those in need. Here is some of destruction in Concord:

We went with a small group to Concord to cook and serve meals. It was an unforgetable experience, we met so many wonderful and most gracious people. We were set up at the Command Center hub so we had access to people coming in and out of the area, along with the law enforcement officers and guards working.

We washed up all the pans late thet night when we got home, packed up again, and headed to Tuscaloosa early the next morning with a group from church.  We partnered with a local church, helped organize supplies for victims to pick up with Convoy of Hope, and made meals for lunch after their church service. 

We were completely exhuasted after the weekend, but extremely thankful to come home to our house. I hope that we will have an opportunity again soon to go back out to some of these areas and serve. And, a big thank you to Gigi for keeping Pierce while we did this! We would not have been able to do it without her help. I'm pretty sure Pierce had lots of fun too!!
