Blue Belt
As if the end of the school year wasn't busy enough, we also had belt testing. Pierce was promoted to blue belt! We are so proud of his accomplishment. He has been working hard and will get to test again soon for the next one!
End of the Year Celebrations
The end of the school year brought on lots of fun and craziness. First up was Field Day, I volunteered all afternoon and it was a super hot day. Thankfully, Kona Ice was there to cool us off!
Mrs. Godwin also had a classroom awards day, each child got to walk the red carpet, accept their award and give a speech. She gave out candy awards, each student got a different one based on their performance all year. Pierce got the "nerds" award! She asked him if he wanted the smarties or nerds award, but he picked nerds since he said they were more fun to eat.
Pierce, along with several classmates, got to attend the Reading Celebration. He got the silver award and had a blast dancing with friends and DJ Ozz!
We also celebrated after our last season game at the ball park. Pierce enjoyed his White Sox season here, even though they only won one game!

Moms
My annual girls beach trip always falls around Mother's Day, this year was no different. It's hard to believe I have known them for almost 20 years now! We love our few days together, a special time to kick off Mother's Day weekend.
We made it back to Luverne that Saturday night to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Lily Grace and shower her parents with love! So thankful to be chosen to be this ones Mom, what an unbelievable blessing he is!
Also a big thanks to Mrs. Aly! The First Grade teachers scheduled a Mother's Day lunch kind of last minute, so I missed it. I felt terrible, but Mrs. Aly surprised Pierce by coming and Grayson picked him as his friend to eat with him. His sweet teacher let them go outside for a special picnic!

My First Ever 5K!!!
Yep, this post is not about Pierce...it's about mama! I've been running some since we moved and it's actually strengthened my knees some.
There was a color run a few weeks ago on campus that I thought about doing but I didn't have anyone to do it with me. Literally, the night before a friend asked me to do it with her (ok, kind of pressured me), so at 10:00pm I signed up! It was lots of fun, but doing a race that started at 10:00 makes it kind of hot.
Pierce and M were waiting at the finish line for me and he got covered in powder too.
Aubie was in full force to pump us up before the race!

The Ecology Preserve
The last field trip of the year for the First Graders was a trip to the Ecology Preserve here in town.
They learned about all types of wildlife (I skipped the snakes!), habitats, went on a nature hike, had a picnic, and made terrariums. It's a pretty cool place which is literally right near our house. We will definitely have to hit the trails again soon!

Ballpark Friends
While Spring ball meant we were at the ballpark three times a week, it also meant that we got to see lots of friends! P and his daddy quickly turned it into social hour each week. Ha!
Pierce and his classmate, Micah.
He also started the ritual of painting his face with eye black like war paint.

And one of our favorite friends, Jones! So glad to have a Hoover friend here with us!
