Touch A Truck

Pierce and I headed to downtown Opelika for the Touch A Truck event on a super sunny and steamy Saturday morning. It was a fun morning to see all kids of vehicles including race cars, dump trucks, emergency vehicles, army vehicles, and an Aubie sighting!

We also had some super special visitors later that day.  Gigi and Poppa came to town for a wedding and apparently Poppa wore his party pants because he danced the night away.  I hate I missed watching it!

Hitting, Catching and Throwing

This year we did baseball camp at Auburn High School instead of in Birmingham with Coach Breeze. Pierce enjoyed seeing new friends and teammates, but especially missed the sliding practice/water day with Coach Breeze!

Camp days with his new buddy, Grayson, and our old buddy, Jones!
Apparently, on  the last day of camp, Pierce discovered the eye black in his bag and attempted quite job with it on his face.  I was a little scared at pick up time.

Summer Kick-off Fun

Since Memorial Day is kind of like the kick off for summer around here, we gathered several neighbors kids to celebrate a few military families in our neighborhood.  Even though Memorial Day is a time of remembrance, we still wanted to say thank you to those that serve and their families. We made cards, baked goodies and delivered with all the kids to each family.
M worked hard on smoking some yummy ribs on Memorial Day and Pierce insisted that we eat outside!
There was also a summer kick off at the clubhouse.  Lots of yummy food, a huge jump house, swim time, visiting with neighbors and friends, and a night time movie for those that stuck around.

The Rouse's also had us over one night for a cookout.  Cooper was quite the host to Pierce with fishing and zip lining fun until it was too dark to see!

Last Day of First Grade

Since it's almost time for school to start back, I better hurry up and post about the end of school last year!  It was all smiles at the bus stop on the last day...the girls wanted no part of the photo.
Grayson, Pierce and Trey
First day and last day of First Grade...what a fast year it was.  Pierce loved it and can't wait to go back!

Blue Belt

As if the end of the school year wasn't busy enough, we also had belt testing.  Pierce was promoted to blue belt!  We are so proud of his accomplishment.  He has been working hard and will get to test again soon for the next one!

End of the Year Celebrations

The end of the school year brought on lots of fun and craziness. First up was Field Day, I volunteered all afternoon and it was a super hot day. Thankfully, Kona Ice was there to cool us off!
Mrs. Godwin also had a classroom awards day, each child got to walk the red carpet, accept their award and give a speech.  She gave out candy awards, each student got a different one based on their performance all year.  Pierce got the "nerds" award!  She asked him if he wanted the smarties or nerds award, but he picked nerds since he said they were more fun to eat.

Class games outside with Jacob
Pierce, along with several classmates, got to attend the Reading Celebration.  He got the silver award and had a blast dancing with friends and DJ Ozz!

Mady and Pierce

We also celebrated after our last season game at the ball park.  Pierce enjoyed his White Sox season here, even though they only won one game!

Moms

My annual girls beach trip always falls around Mother's Day, this year was no different.  It's hard to believe I have known them for almost 20 years now!  We love our few days together, a special time to kick off Mother's Day weekend.
We made it back to Luverne that Saturday night to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Lily Grace and shower her parents with love!  So thankful to be chosen to be this ones Mom, what an unbelievable blessing he is!
Also a big thanks to Mrs. Aly!  The First Grade teachers scheduled a Mother's Day lunch kind of last minute, so I missed it.  I felt terrible, but Mrs. Aly surprised Pierce by coming and Grayson picked him as his friend to eat with him.  His sweet teacher let them go outside for a special picnic!
