Family Fun Fair

Pierce's new school for next year had their big annual fundraiser about a week or so ago, their Family Fun Fair. Since we just had registration, we decided to attend. I thought I'd take him for fun but had no idea what a big deal it was.  It was no joke, they even bus you in for parking from a different location.  Pierce LOVED it and saw a few familiar faces while we were there. He was excited about all the rides and even won on the cake walk!

He is very excited about starting at his new school!  We get to go back for Kindergarten kickoff this week and visit a classroom, I'll update more after that.  Maybe mommy won't cry!!

A Ballgame Birthday Bash

A few weeks ago, Pierce got to help his best buddy, Carter, celebrate birthday #5! As if Carter's birthday was not exciting enough for him, their friend, Jack, was turning 4 so they had a joint party to celebrate. These boys spend lots of time together both at school and church so most of the kids knew each other. Jack's daddy is the baseball coach at a local high school so we got to go there for the kids to practice and play a game along with lots of help from the actually high school team! It was a perfect afternoon for it and the parents loved that the big boys did all the work!!
I love Pierce in his baseball clothes he picked out, thanks to cousin Chapman for supplying lots of baseball pant hand-me-downs!!  He was dressed and ready SEVERAL hours before the party!

The only picture I've got on birthday boy, Jack!  The kids had lots of fun cheering for the high school boys while they hit for us!

A Supersized Saturday

We had a super busy day on Saturday!  It started off early helping out with the annual High Country 5K for church.  My assistant helped me at my post, held the sign the whole time, and helped cheer on the runners!  He headed to the finish line to watch some of the racers and then headed to Pierce's first soccer game of the season.
Pierce's team didn't win, but there wasn't much crying during the game which is a plus from last year!  Thankfully Jones' talented step-dad brought his camera and sent me this action shot!
Sweet buddies, Pierce and Jones!
We headed home for a little while after the game to try to save ourselves from our terrible allergies, then headed downtown to Avondale Brewery for the Funky Fish Fry!  It's an annual fundraising event to benefit children with autism in our area.  They had great music, delicious food, beautiful weather, and fun games for kids and families!

All in all, and fun but exhausting supersized Saturday!!!

Easter Blessings

We had another great Easter this year, despite more rainy weather! Pierce was excited to wake up and see that the Easter Bunny came for a visit while he was sleeping.  He snacked on his carrots he left out for him and left him some treats in his basket, along with some new pj's!  Can you tell that he picked out the ones he is wearing?!?!

There weren't many pictures made due to the weather and the fact that it was dark in our house which doesn't really set the scene for picture time.  I'm sure my boys were happy with the fact that they didn't have to smile for the camera much!
After church, we headed over to the Baker's house for our annual Easter lunch.  They are one of our friends in town with no family either, so we celebrated togther.  The kids loved it!  We both cooked which made it easy and Jacob and Kathryn always make a fun and yummy bunny cake!

Church Egg Hunt

Last Sunday, despite the rainy day, we headed to church for the annual egg hunt.  None of the kids seemed to mind the cold, yucky weather and enjoyed lots of snacks, crafts, balloon animals, hunting eggs, and a train ride!

No, these three are not trouble...Not.  At. All.
We had to have all of the egg hunts inside due to the cold, rainy weather...the kids didn't seem to mind though!

It was a fun way to kick off the week leading to Easter!  Lots of more Easter fun is in store for the week!!

Texas or Bust!!!

We were WAY overdue on a trip to TX to visit the cousins. Pierce and I skipped out a few days early for spring break and headed to the lone star state! Pierce had been counting down the days for our trip for quite a while...can you tell he was excited to get on the plane?!?!
We toasted marshmallows our first night and made some yummy smores!  Please ignore the fact that half of these pictures were taken with my phone.  I didn't always have my big camera with me.  My phone is much lighter to carry around too!
On Day 2, I kept the kids at home most of the day while Lou and B worked.  These three had lots of fun playing together and for the most part were super sweet the whole time we were there!

Later that afternoon, we headed to the bowling alley.  They boys were showing off their strong muscles!  Pierce was bummed he didn't score the most points...looks like another trait from his daddy!

On Day 3, we took a family trip to Dave & Buster's!  Pierce said it was "super awesome" and rated it higher than our trip to Disney World.  Wish I had known that, it would have saved us a lot of money!  I'm pretty sure it's because his super fun big cousin was with him!

These three were definitely monkeys in the tub every night.  They won't all be able to take a bath together much longer!

I loved reading a book to them every night before bed.  Chapman is a great reader now and read most of our books!
Day 4 was probably one of Pierce's favorites...visiting the 1st grade to see Chapman at school.  He got to go out to the playground to play with his class, eat lunch with him in the lunchroom (he loved getting a tray and choosing his food), going to his classroom and getting a full tour by Chapman, and visiting the gym to meet Jenny the Ginny (guinea pig).

Chapman also got pretty lucky because he got to check out of school for the rest of the afternoon since we were in town.  So, I took the boys for a treat to have blizzards!  (Mainly, because I wanted one myself!)

Pierce also LOVED doing 1st grade homework...spelling words.  I'm not sure he'll think it's so fun when he actually has to do homework himself soon.  I think Chapman was surprised he did it with him!
Our trip went by pretty quick and we were ready to get home to daddy.  Good-bye is always hard but we make them super quick!  How sad is it that I never took a picture with my sister?!?!  Pierce was a good travel buddy during our flights.   We are counting down til the summer to see our fun cousins again!  Thanks for having us Burkhart's, we love you!!!

Friday Fun!

A couple of weeks back, Pierce and I spent Friday afternoon outside since it was such a warm, sunny day!  He dug for treasures in the sandbox, played on the playset, and had a snack on the top level too!

The highlight of this day was definitely making friends with the big kids playing outside at the house behind us!!  I think most of the kids playing live on the cul-de-sac behind us.  Pierce watched them for a while and I encouraged him to go talk to them.  He got their attention and careful crossed the ditch between our houses and played with them for a while.  One of the little girls is in 4K like him so they will be in school together next year!  I really liked the 2nd grader that reminded him to stay close where his mom could see him!!  Pierce closely watched for them all weekend so he could go back and play.  Unfortunately, it's been cold lately and we haven't seen them.  Hopefully, it will warm up soon and his new friends will be ready to play!
