On the last Friday of summer before school started, we had a fun day with the Flowers family! I was trying to think of something fun to do with the kids, but activities are much more limited here than in Birmingham. We've been spoiled by that! We went bowling that morning with Jones and had a lunchdate. These buddies were so excited to see each other!
We also had dinner with the Flowers that night at a yummy Italian place in Opelika. We definitely will have to go back! Can't believe these sweet boys are starting First grade!!

Meet the Teacher
As soon as Pierce got back from his visit to the farm, we had "Meet the Teacher" at his new school. I think he was excited to go in and see his new classroom for this year, but not that it looked like "more work" and less fun unlike his classroom from last year! Sadly, I didn't really take any pics in his room or with his teacher. He quickly told me he didn't want to do that. I don't know if he was trying to be cool or worried that she wasn't sweet, Mrs. Miles!!
This is a bad pic, but the only one I took!
However, he was all smiles to get back home and put on his new RES Champions tee! He thinks it is awesome that they are called the "champions" rather than a mascot name.

Mr. Independent and Flying High
Toward the end of summer, Pierce got to go on a visit by himself to the Farm. He insisted on not having mom or dad there and that it's more fun without us!
They had lots of fun swimming, fishing, playing, and telling lots of tall tales, I'm sure. Pierce rarely had a few minutes to talk to us on the phone, I'm sure he didn't miss us much!
On the way home, we stopped by the base to see Cousin Jace while he was there. We loved getting to see where he spends a lot of his time and Pierce loved time in the aircraft! It's amazing at how big those helicopters actually are when you see them up close. Pierce told me he was pretty sure he could fly one. Ha!
Thanks for inviting him Gigi and Poppa! He loves time with you at the Farm!!

Swim Lessons
We did several swim lessons with Benjamin toward the end of summer. He is a college student that lives here, so he came to our pool which was very convenient. Pierce loved seeing him! They started working on proper strokes, breathing, and timing. It's a lot to think about at one time!
One pool day, Pierce decided to take a break with me from swimming and hopped up in my chair too. I think this makes for some really bad tan lines, but a sweet time I wouldn't trade for anything!

New and Old Friends
Pierce got to help his new friend, Clay, celebrate his 6th birthday with a superhero party. Clay is actually in first grade this year too at his school, but his grandmother was our neighbor for a long time in Hoover. It was fun to get to visit with Mrs. Linda and see her in Auburn instead of Birmingham!
Pierce got invited to meet his new buddy, Rankin, at the movies to see the Planes movie several weeks ago. He loved that he got to stay by himself without me, and I loved a little free time to myself! ;)
Pierce and Cooper (one of Clay's cousins that Pierce knows better). Pierce got to spend time with Clay and Cooper at VBS here this summer and at SCBC. Fun new and old friends!

Golfing
Pierce and his daddy both got new sets of golf clubs (first set for Pierce). He was so very excited! He insisted on going outside one morning to practice a little before breakfast!
Special Visitors
In July, we had some extra special visitors! Sally came to visit and brought the kids, spent the night and was gone in less than 24 hours...minus Carter. It did my heart good to see my sweet friend, even though it was a short visit. Carter got to stay for a few days so we packed in lots of playtime and pool time, and lots of other fun stuff I have forgotten about by now!
Ice cream treats at Marble Slab!
Dayschool playdate with Jones too since he is here now! Nobody had time for a picture.

Carter's most coveted and exciting part of the trip was going to BWW to eat. He begged and begged and reminded Pierce the whole day that they needed to be good so they could go!
We took Carter back on Saturday and got to help our buddy, Chase, celebrate his 6th birthday while we were in town. Another sweet Dayschool friend!! What a fun week of celebrating so many fun friendships!
